Removal of Solids: If a fermentation vessel with a inverted conical shape is utilized then the result will be a solid ‘plug’ at the bottom containing yeast cells along with other absorbents. This plug needs to be removed before the resultant fermented alcohol base is transferred to another vessel for the filtration process to commence. By repeatedly opening the outlet valve in short bursts, the ‘plug’ can be ‘blown’ through the outlet valve. This should be followed up with a re-settling session lasting for 2 hours so as to allow another batch of impurities to settle at the bottom again.
